Rash/Skin irritation to Anus from frequent BM is coded with K62.89??

    I wouldn't use that....that's for specific "disease" of the anus!! I'm not
    sure I would even code this ! Is this really a focus of care??

    K62.89 is the appropriate code according to the alphabetical index - irritation, anus. If you have a physician diagnosis of anal irritation and the POC is addressing this, even through monitoring, I would definitely code it. There is potential for progression as well as the possibility of some other underlying undiagnosed factor contributing (ie yeast) that nursing hopefully is assessing for and teaching on pericare etc.
