Hip Fracture

Patient sustained a left hip fracture s/p fall, but documentation states she has "osteoporosis & degenerative arthritis in hands and knees". She had an ORIF with pinning. How do I code this? M80.052 - Age r/t osteoporosis with left femur fracture or traumatic fracture? Thanks for any quick help!!

    I would go with the M80.052 code as you have osteoporosis documented as well as fall. Was it from standing position that normally would not have resulted in fracture?

    Client had fractured hip in March. MD wanting more therapy due to her unsteady gait and in w/c most of time. Would I code the unsteady gait then the fracture code with a S?
