clarification on coding a traumatic fx repaired with a joint replacement.

I am hearing that if a traumatic fx is repaired via a joint replacement that we are to still code the fx and not aftercare joint replacement. This was a topic discussed at the coding summit from what I am hearing. Can anyone speak to this.
