Patient has paraplegia due to cervical spinal surgery in 1980 (laminectomy)
How do I look this up? under complication? or sequela?

    look up paraplegia & be sure to read the info under it. If D/T spinal cord injury you need to code the level of the spinal cord injury as well. (same with quad)

    The laminectomy complication no longer exists. The sequelae does.
    I would consider using the neuro code for paraplegia, and adding Z87.828, Personal history of other (healed) physical injury and trauma (from 1980)
