Coding Dressing Changes

If primary reason for homecare is wound care to open wound, should open wounds and trauma wounds include a Z48.00 code since the origin of the wound is traumatic. I have a case with open wounds from a fall requesting our agency for wound care? Any info would be helpful.

    A Decision Health coding tip states "do not use Z48 codes...for injuries"
    The open wound code automatically means it requires a wound dressing as one does not leave an open injury wound unattended.
    Do not use Z48 codes with an injury wound
