heart failure

I have asked this question before but did not get an answer and it has come
up again J

If I have documentation that a person has diastolic dysfunction is that
considered heart failure for coding purposes?

    Technically, diastolic dysfunction is viewed as being influential in precipitating heart failure, and is not interchangeable in definition.
    One can have diastolic dysfunction and not be in heart failure per se.

    I usually do I51.9 Heart disease, unspecified. I'm not sure if it is correct.
