Question for coders and nurses. On CKD patients, would there be a possibility a patient could have ESRD without other etiology of Hypertension, diabetes, etc? My thought is yes, but rarely. Just getting other opinions.
ESRD can be caused by glomerulonephritis, by the kidneys being injured-like a car wreck, by being in a tourniquet too long during surgery or a number of other things. Removal of necrotic kidneys or perhaps CA spread to the perfectly normal kidneys from somewhere else.. HX of a transplant gone bad. Born with congenital issues... the list goes on and on!!!!!!
