Patient has diarrhea and dehydration due to chemotherapy, chemo drug isn't specified. Should I code K52.1?

    Hi Dorothy,

Use the drug table to find "antineoplastic drug" and adverse reaction column to get the correct code for the adverse reaction to chemotherapy drug when no specific drug is known. Be sure to note that with adverse effect codes, you are to list the effects of the chemotherapy before the T code for adverse effects. (This guidance is found at the chapter block T36-T50 level.)

    I hope this helps!
