memory deficit d/t CVA/mild cognitive impairment

We have a pt that was adm post CVA with memory deficit, I was also given
the dx of mild cognitive impairment but not specified that this was
specific to the CVA.

In homecare can I code both the I69.311 (memory) and then also the mild
cognitive impairment (G31.84)?

    The physician should be queried. CVA with cognitive deficits is listed as an Excludes 1 for mild cognitive impairment. Usually means do not code together but it may be coded together if the patient has both and they are unrelated.
