J tube
We have a pt that has severe malnutrition related to acute pancreatitis,
has a J tube that has an infected insertion site.
My thought was to code K85.01 (acute pancreatitis), K94.12 (Enterostomy
infection), L03.311 (abd wall cellulitis) and then Z43.4 for the encounter
for the J tube.
Questions:
1. Do I still code the pancreatitis as acute – the physician has not said
that it is chronic
2. Is K94.12 the right code?
3. Can I use the encounter code when there is an infection?
