multi-infarct dementia
I am coding from the CTI for a hospice patient and it states multi-infarct dementia for the terminal dx. There is a coding tip on page 801 in the code book that says when this is documented to code it as a sequelae of stroke. Is this acceptable for hospice and would you use i69.319 followed by f01.50?? Can you do that if it doesn't say it is a sequelae? I am sometimes confused by these coding tips in the book.
