skin graft dressing changes
We are performing and inst in the wound care of a skin graft and donor site
– how do I code this? Pt was placed on abx but no definitive dx of
infection was given by the physician (stated “just in case”). Originally pt
had skin cancer removed, the area became infected and was treated with
debridement and wound vac. She then had a graft done from her L wrist to
the R shin that involved tissue and not just the skin. Then she had a graft
from the R thigh to the L wrist that was just skin (2 different surgeries –
R shin and L wrist wounds are being addressed).
I’m thinking these would be a surgical wound – so Z48.01?
I don’t know how to capture the essence of the original wound as the cancer
is gone – any help will be very much appreciated as I need to complete the
coding today!
Thanks J
