Fracture Question
We have a patient who had a knee joint replacement for a trauma quite some time ago.(She has had approximately 9 surgeries on this knee)The last joint replacement became infected plus she had a distal femur fracture. She then had the knee joint prosthesis explanted(and not replaced)and hardware for the femur fracture. We are now seeing her because she had the external hardware removed for the femur fracture and the knee fused. We have coded the femur fracture with a D and absence of knee joint but do we need to code anything else for the knee fusion she had done at the same time?
