HTN and Heart

I am confused again regarding the assumption between hypertension and CHF. As I was studying Coding guideline 9. Chapter 9 Diseases of Circulatory System (I00-I99) these are in conflict with the Chapter specific guidelines. So am I to understand that at this time, Coding guidelines in the front of the current Decision Health Coding manual are incorrect?
Not only do I have to educate our auditors but I need to take the ICD-10 exam so I need to know what to study.

Thanks for any advice
Brenda

The Guidelines in the fron tof the coding book are 2016 Guidelines because
the 2017 were not published until after the manual went to the printer.
you can doenload the 2017 guidelines form this link:
    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/icd10cm.html

    Thanks,
Is that why sometime back I saw where you were allowed to take printed off guidelines with your coding manual while testing for ICD-10?

yes, but you have to take the ones with the AHCC watermark. You can
download them from the Association for Home Care Coders website.

    Hi Brenda,

The latest 2017 Official Guidelines can be found on the CDC's website at CDC.gov. Once you land on the home page, search for ICD-10-CM 2017 Official Guidance and the PDF link will pull up.

You will notice that this information is different than what is in our 2017 code books. The updates are in bold type in the CDC document.

    Hope this helps!
