Gastrointestinal hemorrhage

The patient was admiited to the hospital with a GI bleed. Diagnosis on referral documentation is GI bleed. Do you code that in M1021? Or would you just code it in the inpatient & referral diagnosis? No documentation that the condition has resolved.

    I had this and I called the primary MD to find out the cause. GI bleeding
    is a symptom of a problem. Usually, it is caused by a peptic ulcer. GI
    bleeds are resolved in the hospital. See if you can find the cause and
    that would be the primary.
