Complication of Hardware vs. Fracture of Hip
My referral only gives me the following information:
Patient had fall with hip fx in Dec of 2015. Continued with Hip pain and in July 2016 was told that "fracture wasn't healing." Patient was hospitalized for "hardware removal and THA." I am assuming that inpatient codes would be Complication of the Hardware? T84.9XXA? And I know that I can't code primary HH diagnosis as Aftercare for Joint Replacement, but would I code the T84.9XXA/D or would I code the Fracture Z72.001G?
