heart failure

I have asked this question before but did not get an answer and it has come
up again J

If I have documentation that a person has diastolic dysfunction is that
considered heart failure for coding purposes?

  • Technically, diastolic dysfunction is viewed as being influential in precipitating heart failure, and is not interchangeable in definition.
One can have diastolic dysfunction and not be in heart failure per se.
