OASIS and government insurance

Do the government insurances get OASIS? For instance-Blue Cross Federal or Tufts US Family Health Plan? Our agency does SOC on anyone over age 65 regardless of insurance, but sometimes we get people who are say, 45, on this insurance. Do they get OASIS as well? I'm always confused over this. thanks in advance.

If it is a Medicare / Medicaid payer of any sort, the answer is yes.

If not, it is your agency's choice. Many of us do it because it is more confusing to do something else for just a few patients. And it assures the assessment meets regulatory requirements.

Thank you. The way we do it it has been very confusing for that exact reason.
  • we also do an oasis on every patient so no matter what is the payor source, that way if something is required later for billing, we are covered.
