malunion fracture
Can I code a fracture as a S82.842P Displaced bimalleolar fracture of left lower leg, subsequent encounter for closed fracture with malunion for a fracture that occured on 3/17/17 and physician coded as s82.842a with no intervention / no surgery other than casting then on 4/19/17 patient was experiencing pain and numbness and had x-rays taken. The radiologist noted that the fractures now show displacement and angulation associated with the dislocation along with the dislocation of the tibial talar joint. MD has not actually documented the word "Malunion" but it is not routine healing of a fracture.
