pt hospitalized for evacuation of AV graft pseudo aneurysm. Home health orders for packing of wound.

  • Hi Tammy.
AV Graft? Sounds like a dialysis access site. I would get confirmation that this graft site will never be used for hemodialysis again before I admitted to HH because if the graft is still usable and this patient is traditional Medicare, then the care to the site by HH will not be covered.

  • Look at I77.0. AV Aneurysm acquired
Aneurysm (other) I72 has an excludes for acquired aneurysm I77.0

  • it will not be used again, pt has another graft site that they are now using.
so you are saying , it would not be a complication code?
  • I77.0 is the complication code.
In using complication codes, we are instructed to look at the system chapter codes first for those codes.
"Acquired" means it showed up unexpectedly in use of "Acquired aneurysm" (I77.0).
