Re. Therapy for CA pt.

Hi All----have a pt. with lung CA with brain mets. FOCUS OF CARE is therapy for ongoing weakness/muscle weakness. Chemo is completed. Still struggling with whether to code CA's first or the weakness. SN in for medication instruction.

    My thought (though I may be incorrect) is to code the cancer first because
    the weakness is very much related to the cancer/chemo

    I would code the Ca's primary because more than likely the weakness is due to the cancer.

    For me, look for the visit freq. if there is a PT and PT is more visit then go to muscle weakness as primary, if nurse is more visit then CA. iS the primary.
